Thermoplastic Extrusion Road Marking Machine

Thermoplastic extrusion road marking method is becoming more and more popular among road marking projects. Previously, thermoplastic screeding road marking method is common. But with the road marking project higher requirements, different patterns of lines for highway, expressway, municipal road markings are coming out.

1. Thermoplastic Extrusion Marking Way Definition and Working Theory

Thermoplastic extrusion road marking theory lies in that sing a hydraulic screw pump or plunger pump for pressurization, molten thermoplastic coating (at 190–220°C) is continuously forced into a heated, insulated slot-die applicator to extrude the marking to a precise thickness; the applicator head maintains contact with the road surface to shape the marking while simultaneously dispensing reflective glass beads, resulting in a thick, wear-resistant marking upon cooling.

Paints Feeding Power

Thermoplastic extrusion: The hydraulic pump is forced to pressurize the material and the flow is stable and not affected by the liquid level in the hopper.

Thermoplastic Screeding: Only relying on the heated thermoplastic paint falling by gravity, it prone to thinning if the amount is insufficient, or overflowing at the edges if the amount is excessive.

Thermoplastic Extrusion: 1.0-4.0mm

Thermoplastic Screeding: 1.0-3.0mm

Thermoplastic Screeding: Simple screeding marking way, complex profiles need to be marked several times, making edges is a little rough.

Pros

Line coating is thick, anti-abrasion, long-lasting reflectivity, applicable to highway, overload, long lifespan road sections.

Compulsory uniform discharge thickness, unaffected by the amount of material in the hopper, ensuring consistent performance during long-run operations.

A multifunctional, all-in-one system capable of forming profiled (ribbed) markings, dotted markings, and multi-width composite markings in a single time.

Formed by a cutter head guide, the edges of the road markings are straight and crisp, resulting in a smooth, uniform finish.

Cons

Equipment costs are significantly higher than those of standard screed-application marking machines, and maintenance is complex.

Material consumption per square meter is higher, resulting in increased material costs.

The equipment is relatively heavy, offering less maneuverability than push-type screed applicators in confined spaces such as narrow residential complexes or small parking bays.
