Mathematical relationship of various degrees of whiteness displayed by the instrument
This whiteness meter provides the CIE XYZ color system, and at the same time, according to the requirements of different industries and measurement departments in China for whiteness standards, it provides 6 kinds of commonly used whiteness formulas.
1. XYZ color system X, Y, Z are the three stimulus values of the sample directly measured by the instrument.The X, Y, Z three excitation values are specified by the CIE1964 (10°) color system, and become the basic parameters for measuring all CIE color systems and color values such as whiteness value.
2. CIE86 whiteness
CIE86 whiteness is the whiteness formula (also known as Gantz whiteness) officially recommended by the CIE Whiteness Committee in 1983 and officially published in 1986. Its characteristics are: the calculation is based on the color tristimulus value of the object. The properties of the color tristimulus value determine the contribution to the whiteness. Their equal whiteness surfaces are the same plane in the color space, and the formula is linear. The whiteness equation is as follows:
Wg=Y+800×(xn-x)+1700×(yn-y)
Tw=900×(xn-x)-650×(yn-y)
In the formula, Wg is the whiteness value, Tw is the tone index; Y, x, y are the values of the measured sample; xn, yn are the chromaticity coordinates of the D65 light source under a 10° field of view: xn=0.3138 yn =0.3310
CIE Recommended Note: The whiteness formula provides a relative rather than an absolute evaluation of whiteness. For samples with pronounced shades, it is meaningless to use the CIE86 formula. Using the above formula, its Wg and Tw values should fall within the following limits:
-3＜Tw＜+3 40＜Wg＜(5Y-280)
3. R457 whiteness
R457 whiteness is a simple whiteness representation method. R457 whiteness (also known as blue inverse whiteness) has been used in the measurement of the diffuse reflectance of paper in the international standard ISO2470, as well as in my country’s paper, plastics and other industries. It stipulates that with approximate A light source illumination, the peak wavelength of the overall effective spectral sensitivity curve of the whiteness instrument is at 457nm, and the half-wave width is 44nm. Because the curve of reflectance of general white samples is relatively simple, the whiteness is most sensitive in the short-wave blue region, the instrument is simple, and the method is easy, so some industries are still used.
Under the condition of D65/10°, the tristimulus value chromaticity instrument can also obtain the R457 whiteness value by using the measured value. Its conversion equation is: Wr=0.925×Z+1.16
In the formula, Wr represents the whiteness value of R457, which is the measured value of the sample.
4. Hunter Whiteness
Use the measured values L, a, and b parameters of the HunterLab color system to calculate:
Wh=100-
In the formula, Wh represents the Hunter whiteness value.
5.GB5950 whiteness
GB5950 “Measurement Method for Whiteness of Building Materials and Non-metallic Mineral Products” is a whiteness test method standard formulated by China’s national building materials industry. The whiteness calculation formula required by this standard is as follows:
Wj=Y+400x-1000y+205.5
In the formula, Wj is the whiteness value of GB5950, and Y, x, and y are the measured values under the condition of D65 light source and 10° field of view.
6.GB1530 whiteness
GB1530 is a whiteness measurement method standard formulated by China’s daily-use ceramics industry. The standard requires that the whiteness value is blue-white or yellow-white according to the hue of the measured value of the object. The calculation formula is as follows:
WTY=Y+818x-1365y+195 135º≥Hº≥315º
WTB=Y-250X+3y+77.5 135º< Hº<315º
where WTY is the yellowness and whiteness value, WTB is the blueness and whiteness value, H is the hue angle calculated from the measured value of the object,
Y, x, y are measured values under the condition of D65 light source, 10° field of view.
